Chris is our new operator from our growing Manawatu team. Using his preferred brand Stihl, he offers lawn mowing, weed eating, gardening, and hedge trimming services in Palmerston North. 

Prior to joining Crewcut, he worked in a government department. He made the switch to lawn and garden services because he wanted a more active lifestyle and work-life balance. He intends to grow his customer base in the next two to three years and emphasises that he wants to ensure the quality of his work is maintained while he works towards his business’ growth.

When asked if someone else helps him out with the business, he mentioned that his wife assists him with accounting and gardening work from time to time. Like many Crewcut business owners, Chris is showing that building a business together with a spouse can work as a great strategy, especially when you’re both enjoying the ride.

His key skills as a Crewcut operator, he says, are his great attention to detail and his friendly attitude towards customers. Before joining the team, he said he didn’t know that there was a methodical induction process involved when joining. He continues to learn more about the business every day with the support he gets from his area manager.

When Chris isn’t working, he’s mostly engaged in outdoor activities.

When asked what his advice is for a new Crewcut operator, he has this short but sweet answer: “Believe in yourself!”
